HES assisted a Credit Management Company focused on their call centres located in Johannesburg and Cape Town which between them employ 1 000 people.

We installed smart meters at both facilities and after gathering data over several weeks, we analysed and understood how electricity is consumed throughout the day and over the week (the Electricity usage profile). We also identified the base load electrical consumption (what electricity is used over the weekends and during the night).

As part of our services, we checked the accuracy of their municipal bills – which was important given that both sites combined pay R250 000 per month on electricity. We also verified that they are on the most favourable Municipal Electricity Tariff.

We then worked together with the company’s Project Team to identify the key drivers of the electrical consumption – and we assessed what could be done to reduce the electricity used without impacting the operations of the business.
